NCAA rules Arizona's Trier ineligible

Arizona's Allonzo Trier has been declared ineligible for the reappearance of a banned substance that led to a 19-game suspension last season.

The NCAA notified the school on Thursday that the preseason All-America junior guard tested positive for trace amount of the substance late last month.

Arizona says the amount detected was minuscule by scientific standards and appeared to be a remnant of the undisclosed performance-enhancing drug Trier said he unknowingly ingested last season. The NCAA agreed, the school said.

Drexel makes history with 34-point rally

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Tramaine Isabell posted a double-double and made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to give Drexel a 34-point comeback win over Delaware Thursday night for the largest come-from-behind win in the history of Division I basketball.

Isabell scored 29 points with 12 rebounds and nine assists in the 85-83 victory. Drexel broke a record that stood since Dec. 30, 1950 when Duke beat Tulane 74-72 after trailing by 32.

Edwards' 40 help Purdue outlast Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) Carsen Edwards stepped up when No. 9 Purdue needed a huge performance.

Edwards scored a career-high 40 points and Dakota Mathias added 18 to help the Boilermakers outlast Illinois in a 93-86 victory on Thursday night.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) The Bearcats had three days to stew, and it showed when they took the court.

Gary Clark scored 10 of his 17 points during Cincinnati's decisive opening spurt, and the 11th-ranked Bearcats shook off consecutive losses by beating short-handed Connecticut 77-52 on Thursday night for their fifth straight win over the Huskies.

Depleted Arizona beats Oregon St. in OT

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) Deandre Ayton had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, and No. 14 Arizona, minus one of its star players, beat Oregon State 75-65 in overtime on Thursday night.

Rawle Alkins added clutch scoring with 16 points and eight rebounds, and Dusan Ristic had 14 points for the Wildcats (22-6, 12-3 Pac-12), who were without guard Allonzo Trier.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Jimario Rivers and Raynere Thornton each scored 21 points, helping Memphis beat No. 23 Houston 91-85 on Thursday night.

Rivers also grabbed nine rebounds and Thornton made four 3-pointers as Memphis (17-11, 8-7 American Athletic Conference) earned its third straight victory.

Travis has 33, Stanford tops Washington

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) Reid Travis had a feeling it was his night. With a game against Washington earlier this season, he had extra film to watch and evaluate.

Travis scored 23 of his career-high 33 points in the first half as Stanford jumped to an early lead on the way to a 94-78 victory over the Huskies on Thursday night.

Utah defeats UCLA for fifth straight win

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Beating the shot clock with a critical basket is a scenario Parker Van Dyke has practiced many times. Van Dyke has done silent countdowns in his head and fired up shots in the gym on many occasions to prepare for such a moment.

Van Dyke earned a chance to do it for real. The junior guard made a pair of 3-pointers late in the shot clock in the final minutes to help Utah edge UCLA for an 84-78 victory on Thursday.
