Flyers F Simmonds out 2 to 3 weeks

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds will be out for 2-to-3 weeks after suffering an upper-body injury in Sunday's win over the New York Rangers.

Simmonds has 20 goals and 37 points in 59 games this season for Philadelphia, which hosted Montreal on Tuesday night. He was involved in a first-period tussle in Sunday's game and landed a fight-ending left hand to the side of Tony DeAngelo's helmet.

Simmonds joins a growing list of injured Flyers. Starting goalie Brian Elliott had surgery Feb. 13 for a core muscle injury and is expected to miss up to five more weeks. Backup Michal Neuvirth will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a lower body injury in Sunday's game.

Bruins acquire D Holden from Rangers

NEW YORK (AP) The Rangers have traded defenseman Nick Holden to the Boston Bruins for a minor league defenseman and a third-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Holden skated in 135 games with the Rangers over parts of two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18). He had 14 goals and 32 assists for 46 points, along with 49 penalty minutes. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Canucks extend D Gudbranson for 3 years

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Erik Gudbranson to a three-year contract extension Tuesday.

The Canucks said the deal will carry an average annual value of $4 million.

Sabres D McCabe to miss rest of season

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jake McCabe will miss the remainder of the season to have surgery to repair a shoulder injury that has nagged him for much of the year.

McCabe was already on injured reserve and had missed seven games after having thumb surgery. General manager Jason Botterill says the team elected to have McCabe also address his shoulder injury so that he can be fully healthy for the start of next season.

Maple Leafs trade F Fehr to Sharks

TORONTO (AP) The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Eric Fehr to the San Jose Sharks for a seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 draft.

The 32-year-old Fehr played in four games with the Leafs this season. He was loaned to the AHL's San Diego Gulls in November, where he's had 17 goals, 11 assists and 33 penalty minutes in 34 games with San Diego.

Seattle begins season-ticket campaign

SEATTLE (AP) Fans longing for a professional hockey team in Seattle will soon be able to put down some money for season tickets.

Mayor Jenny Durkan and the Oak View Group, which is trying to bring an NHL team to the city, announced Tuesday that people can make refundable deposits for season tickets at NHLSeattle.com beginning March 1.

'Hawks ban 4 from games for racist taunt

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago Blackhawks have banned four fans from their home games for directing racist taunts toward Washington Capitals forward Devante Smith-Pelly.

The Blackhawks also apologized to Smith-Pelly and the Capitals.

Flyers acquire G Mrazek from Red Wings

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Petr Mrazek is going from being a backup goaltender on a losing team to a starting job for a playoff contender.

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings for two conditional draft picks on Monday night, a day after losing their second goalie to injury in less than 10 days.

Ovechkin scores 35th as Caps down Sabres

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Alex Ovechkin can stop fretting about what the Washington Capitals captain described as the worst game of his career.

He and the Capitals were much better in a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, two days after a 7-1 meltdown at Chicago.
